Terms of Use

These terms govern every visit, search, and use of content on Lamar County Criminal History. Using the website means agreeing to the conditions below. A person who does not accept them should discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. This privately run website is not affiliated with any government body and is not a consumer reporting agency under federal law. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant-screening, or another purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Its purpose is to identify Lamar County and Alabama public-record resources.

1. What This Website Is

Lamar County Criminal History is an independent reference website with no government affiliation. It does not store official criminal records, perform official checks, retrieve documents, or submit filings.

Its content routes visitors to record holders such as the Lamar County sheriff and courts, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency criminal-history repository, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Sex Offender Registry. Public-writing access under the Alabama Open Records Act, principally Ala. Code § 36-12-40, does not turn this site into a government source. Alabama Criminal History Record Information remains subject to the dissemination limits in Ala. Code §§ 41-9-590 and 41-9-636. Some pages also connect with outside search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Visitors agree not to:

  • Use the website in violation of federal, Alabama, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use site content for any FCRA-regulated decision
  • Seek unauthorized access to systems or data
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfere with site speed, operation, or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Site information and linked records may not be used to stalk, threaten, intimidate, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. This limit is especially important for sex offender registry data. Alabama law reserves that information for lawful public awareness, not vigilantism. Ala. Code § 41-9-601 also penalizes certain criminal-information access or communication by false pretenses or without authority.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This site does not produce background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports and is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. Visitors must not use this site or a linked tool to:

  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Set credit terms or insurance pricing
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public program
  • Carry out another activity regulated by the FCRA

A legally required screening must use an authorized official or FCRA-compliant channel, not this website.

5. No Legal Advice

The website supplies general information, not legal advice. It cannot decide how an Alabama charge, warrant, conviction, or expungement provision applies to a particular person. A licensed Alabama lawyer should address those questions.

6. No Warranties

All website material is offered "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • Information will always be complete, accurate, or current
  • Pages will remain continuously available
  • The website will be free from defects or security risks
  • An outside provider's results will be complete or correctly matched

Charges, dispositions, restrictions, and expungement orders can change a record. Always confirm current information with the Lamar County or Alabama office that maintains the original.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to government pages, courts, legal resources, and outside search services. Those destinations control their own content, availability, charges, terms, and privacy practices. Use of an outside service is governed by that provider, not by this site.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise identified, the site's text, code, graphics, and logos belong to Lamar County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create derivative work without written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent Alabama law permits, the site and its operators are not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the website, reliance on its content, or use of a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold the site and its operators harmless from claims, demands, proceedings, and related expenses caused by that visitor's use or breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Alabama law governs these terms. Any dispute related to use of the site must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in the State of Alabama.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be changed. A revision becomes effective when posted on this page, and later use is subject to the revised version.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, without advance notice, when the site's operators choose to do so.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected term will be limited only as much as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
